Comment: Easy to install, works great, provides my mother with instant hot water. The last one only lasted about 20 years and a replacement tank was not available, but a full kit was cheaper than a tank alone!

Summary: Water stinks from insinkerator hot water heater 2010-02-23
Comment: The home we bought 10 years ago had the H770ss and we loved it. In 2005 we replaced it because it leaked. Now, the water coming out of it stinks - bad. I will certainly think twice before replacing this one.

Summary: This brand is JUNK 2010-02-18
Comment: I bought one new in 2002. The first tank failed after 3 years and caused a giant mess when it poured water under the sink. I bought a replacement stainless steel tank to replace it and it just failed and leaked and caused a big mess under the sink. I have leaned my lesson. I just ordered a different brand.

Summary: Can't live without it. 2010-02-06
Comment: Just installed this in my son's new home. It was to replace an existing unit that was apparently broken. I have now installed or replaced about a dozen of these for friends and relatives.

The new units have stainless steel tanks and do not rust out like the old ones. For this reason we're hopeful that they'll last longer.....we'll see. But even after having one fail...we still see the convenience and value of having one.

Installation is basically simple (it IS nice to have a little DO-IT-YOURSELF skill), and the instructions are friendly. But be prepared to make that extra trip(s) to the hardware store for something (a valve, fitting, etc.).

There isn't a day that goes by that we don't use it several times. It's great for coffee, tea, warming baby bottles, etc.....or whenever you need a small amount of very hot water. And most everyone that have one feels the same way.

Comment: I looked through most of the models and settled on this unit. It was easy to hookup and works extremely well. It didn't include a part to connect it to the cold water line so a trip to Home Depot was required before I could be up and running. I decided to connect mine directly to my reverse osmosis system using a standard 1/4" T-connector, a simple cut in the existing RO water-out poly tube and the copper from the instant-hot fit nicely in the T-connector. Being in Colorado, I had to turn the unit down one notch from the factory setting to prevent it from boiling and gurgling steam out the spigot after each use.

It works great for making tea, cocoa, cous cous, oatmeal, and Easy-Mac so far. It's also a life savor in cleaning pots and pans that have some butter or grease on them since its hot enough to melt the fats right off the pan. My family loves it!
